Q: I have just retired. Am I too old to become a Bicycle Ambassador ? My 8yr old Grandson often accompanies me on rides – is he too young?
We do not have any age restrictions. We just ask that you continue enjoying bicycle rides with your Grandson and encourage others to join you, riding with respect, excellence and friendship.
Q: I have a very busy work and social life. Will I be committing myself in the future if I become a Bicycle ambassador now? I do enjoy riding my bicycle to work, but have very little spare time for involvement in anything further.
Please carry on doing what you are already doing and help Britain become a more bicycle friendly place to live. It’s easy being a BA, all you have to do is ride your bicycle.
Q: I have recently moved to a new town and have bought myself a bicycle. I am not a confident rider and would like to ride my bicycle more often and meet new people in the area. Can you advise me where I might be able to have bicycle training and are there any local Ambassadors in the Cardiff area?
Your local Council website will have details of bicycle training. You can see at a glance if there are other BA’s in your area by looking at our map.
Q: Will it cost me anything to become a Bicycle Ambassador?
There is no charge. You just give your time each time you ride your bicycle for everyday journeys with respect, excellence and friendship and of course help to reach the 1 million ambassadors by sharing your business cards.
Q: I would like to start up a social group for women like myself who enjoy riding their bicycles. We could maybe meet up once a week for a leisurely ride followed by a cup of coffee and a natter. Can you advise me how to go about it?
There are a growing number of bicycle rides for women that are as much about being sociable and stylish not sporty and sweaty. If you are on Facebook look for Shirley’sWheels. There is a page and a group. You might find something like this where you live. If you are not on Facebook, or if there is no group where you live, we are happy to help you set up your own group, it’s relatively simple and great fun. Email firstname.lastname@example.org
